Who doesn’t love a good night’s rest? We know we do! Nothing is more reenergizing and fulfilling as getting as much sleep as you need to feel fully charged and ready to take on the day. However, are you aware that every age group has their own specific amount of sleep that they need? For example, a college student might not need just as many hours as a kid that is still in elementary school. This sleep rule can been seen applied in life especially when it comes to newborn babies. Have you ever noticed that a newborn babies favorite thing to do is sleep?
Scientists have recently come out with a more updated version of the hours of sleep each individual aged group may need to fully function and allow growth and bodily repairs to take place. Starting off with children from elementary school age to middle school, these tikes are in need of 9 – 11 hours of sleep per night. Although older, teenagers from the ages of 14 to 17 need about 8 – 10 hours of sleep per night. Young adults from the ages of 18 – 25 only need 7 – 9 hours of rest per night and the same goes for adults from the ages of 26 – 64.
Older adults or the elderly, as in 65+ only need about 7 – 8 hours of sleep per night. This would explain why your grandparents were always such early risers throughout your childhood. Of course, personal lifestyles can affect just how much sleep you personally need per night – just make sure to get enough to feel energized the next day!
