“Disabled Facebook Account” Email Scam
This is a new scam that’s spreading rapidly, mainly targeting emails.
If you get an email with the following as the Subject – “New comment on Facebook“, which reads Your Facebook account has been disabled, then you have to understand the fact that, its a phishing campaign that is designed to trick the users so that the intruder gets the credentials (login details and other stuffs) of the user.
You have disabled your Facebook account. You can resume your account at any time by logging into Facebook using your old login email address and password. You will be than able to exploit the site in the same way as before.
Users usually try to re-activate their Facebook Profile, which leads to a Fake or Phishing page, where you may end up leaking/giving away your details.
Once you click on the submit button, your login details are acquired by the intruder. He uses it for some work that serves his purpose.
If you come across this email, delete it immediately. Better late than never, change your password immediately if you have already been a part of this phishing activity.
